Bangladesh is now at the top in the world in the construction of high-quality green factories in the ready-made garment industry. This is what the United States Green Building Council claims. According to the company's calculations, 7 of the top 10 quality factories in the world are located in Bangladesh.

This US-based organization has given 13 garment factories of Bangladesh the platinum category 'Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Lead' certificate. And 20 factories have got gold certificate. The number of silver certified factories is 27. In general, the number of factories certified as eco-friendly is 7.

Garment industry owners claim that according to the list of USGBC, the top three factories in the world in judging the quality of environmentally friendly factories are also in Bangladesh. Two of these are located in Narayanganj, the other in Ishwardi EPZ (Export Processing Zone) in Pabna.

According to BGMEA, 67 garment and textile factories have been accredited by the USGBC as 'Green Factories'. Another 227 factories are being developed as eco-friendly factories. They will get this certificate within the next two years.

The top list of USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified factories are Remy Holdings, Plummy Fashions, Vintage Denim Studio, SQ Celsius-2, SQ Birkina-1, SQ Birkina-2, Genesis Washing etc.
